About KV Mullanpur, Chandigarh

In 1963 Ministry of Education, Govt. of India set up Central schools(now known as Kendriya Vidyalayas) by taking over 20 Regimental Schools run by Ministry of Defence. These Kendriya Vidyalayas are now managed by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body fully financed by Central Govt. .Over this span of time now there are about 937 Kendriya Vidyalayas spread through out the country. The main objectives of Kendriya Vidyalayas are :

  • To cater to the educational needs of children of transferable Central Govt. employees including defence and para-military personnel by providing a common pattern of education.
  • To pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school education.
  • To initiate and promote experimentation and innovations in education in collaboration with other bodies like CBSE & NCERT etc.
  • To develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of ‘Indian ness’ among children.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Mullanpur Garibdas is situated on the way from PGI to Kurali Road in Air Force Campus 2224Sqn. It is upgraded from Class X to Class XII , with well qualified and dedicated teachers.
The Vidyalaya is adequately equipped with infra structural facilities such as playfields, rich library, science laboratory and computer lab.
